The Ballad of Jeannie Sinclair

The Ballad of Jeannie Sinclair

Jeannie Sinclair was a fair young maid,
Born in the town of Ayr,
With eyes as bright as the morning light,
And a heart that knew no despair.

She worked the fields and tended the flock,
And sang with the birds all day,
But her heart longed for adventure and love,
And to be swept off her feet in some way.

One day a young man came to the town,
A sailor, bold and true,
And Jeannie's heart began to pound,
For she knew what she must do.

She left her home and followed him,
On a ship that sailed the sea,
And there she found the love she sought,
And a life that was wild and free.

They traveled far and wide together,
From the islands of the Caribbean,
To the shores of distant lands,
And every place they went was heaven.

But life at sea was not always easy,
And danger lurked around every bend,
And when a storm caught them unawares,
Jeannie feared it was the end.

But they survived the tempest's wrath,
And their love grew even stronger,
And Jeannie knew that with him by her side,
She could face anything, no matter how much longer.

Years passed by, and Jeannie grew old,
But her heart was still young and free,
For she had lived a life of adventure and love,
And she knew that she would always be happy.

And when she finally passed away,
Her memory lived on in song,
For the life of Jeannie Sinclair,
Was a life that was wild and strong.
