Whispers of Yesterday

 "Whispers of Yesterday"

The city hums, but I can’t hear it now,
The streets have grown so quiet, somehow,
And in the shadow of the setting sun,
I trace the steps of what we’ve lef
t undone.

Oh, the echoes of yesterday,
They follow me where the light won’t stay,
Through the seasons that slip away,
We’re only whispers of yesterday.

I walked alone by the riverside,
Saw the old oak where we used to hide,
The leaves have fallen, but the roots remain,
Tied to the earth like our hearts to pain.

Oh, the echoes of yesterday,
They follow me where the light won’t stay,
Through the seasons that slip away,
We’re only whispers of yesterday.

The breeze that carries dreams away,
Brings them back in a softer way,
And though the years have stretched so far,
We still carry who we are.

Now I stand where the road divides,
With all my memories, like shifting tides,
But in the quiet, I still hear your voice,
Telling me, we always have a choice.

Oh, the echoes of yesterday,
They follow me where the light won’t stay,
Through the seasons that slip away,
We’re only whispers of yesterday.

Yes, we’re only whispers of yesterday,
Fading softly with each step we take away.
